Colorado Tai Chi Camp 2011

View from Practice Hall

This was the eighth year at Shadowcliff Mountain Sanctuary in Grand Lake, Colorado and it has turned out to be my favorite event of this kind.  It is long enough so that we can let go of, or at least lessen the grip of, our worldly concerns and allow the practice of Tai Chi to work its magic.  The setting doesn't hurt either.  Shadowcliff, as its name implies, sits on a cliff overlooking Grand Lake (both lake and town).  The view from the practice hall is magnificent and creates a feeling of expansiveness particularly during the morning practice and meditation.

Colorado Camp, 2011
We experienced warm, sunny days and cool nights; a full moon and two nights of campfire on the point.  As usual the group this year was a pleasure to teach and break bread with.  Everyone worked very hard to refine their form, so I believe that their practice will be more principled and yield greater benefit.  The depth and quietude one can achieve at a camp is greater than is possible at home.  Although the 'camp glow' will dissipate, it will have a enduring effect.

I feel much gratitude for the privilege of leading this camp and hope it will continue for years to come.

Next year's camp is schedule for July 30-August 4, 2012.
